In the past month, amidst all the pain and misery, Kerala has also seen acts of incredible generosity, compassion and humanity. While financial and material aid is coming in from all over the country, two children from Kochi have donated money to the Chief Minister flood relief from their piggy bank.
Harron and Diya, the children of Kochi residents Sidhique Mallassery and Fathimma Sidhique, had been saving up money in their piggy bank for the past two years to buy a study table.
“After seeing us donating clothes and other things to the relief camps, our children came asked about giving their entire money from their ‘baby bank’ to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, I was so happy. The total money amounts to Rs 2210. I know it’s not a huge amount, but they have done their part, and we have decided to donate the money to CMDRF,” said Fathima, their mother, in a Facebook post that has gone viral.
Mind you, the children had stopped their parents from even buying groceries with that money, but felt necessary to give it away to others in need.
Vishnu had initially hoped to sell these 50 blankets, but once he understood the situation in Kerala, he decided to donate his entire stock of blankets to the district collector.
