Sometimes, it is one’s alertness that plays the definitive role during situations that juggle between life and death.

This could be true for a lost toddler in Kalamassery near Kochi, who would have probably met with a terrible fate, had the child not come within the line of sight of a senior civil police officer who was on a visit back home.

Aneeshmon EV, who is attached with the Kerala Anti-Terror Squad (KATS), was on his way to visit his wife in Vaikom when his eyes serendipitously caught the attention of a tiny figure clad in white wandering through the railway tracks near Kalamassery railway station on Friday night.

Unable to quite believe what he saw, he asked a few fellow passengers to confirm his suspicion and ran to the coach door for a better view. The man didn’t waste any time and immediately traced the phone number of the Kalamassery police station through the Internet and alerted them about the child.

Fortunately, the station was quite close to the location mentioned by Aneeshmon, and the policemen could reach the area in two minutes and trace the baby.

“There was a slope right next to the quarters where the child and his mother were staying. He was playing outside the quarters on his tricycle when it accidentally rolled down the slope, and the child fell hitting his forehead. He then walked towards the track trying to find the mother. Those who were searching for him, however, went in the opposite direction,” Anilkumar CK, one of the CPOs at the Kalamassery station told Times of India.

The amazing policemen, who came to the rescue of a profusely bleeding Devanarayanan in time, included Anilkumar, Niyas Meeran, another CPO, and a sub-inspector CB Prasannan. The one-and-a-half-year-old toddler is the son of Manju and Sanjith, who had moved to Kalamassery recently.

Thanks to the quick action from both Aneeshmon and cops at Kalamassery station, one little life could be saved!
