Who doesn’t love cake? This underdog amongst desserts, can enliven anyone’s mood and doesn’t really require a time or occasion to be gorged upon.
People who don’t appear to be fond of cakes are probably the ones you shouldn’t trust.
Jokes apart, what came as a complete surprise for the cops of the Rajakkad police station in the Idukki district of Kerala was when a man turned up at the station with a cake for them!
Upon further enquiry, Joy Abraham, a sub-inspector at the police station, and his colleagues, came to know that Kannappan, a farmer at a cardamom plantation, was reprimanded and fined for drunk driving by them, about four months back.
Until then, he had been a heavy drinker and could not break away from a habit that he had grown accustomed to for the last 23 years.

When Kannappan was pulled up for driving under the influence of alcohol, he decided to make amends and change his lifestyle, reports Manorama, a local Malayalam daily.
A native of Kumbappara, Kannappan has not touched a drop of alcohol since then, and as a gesture of gratitude, he brought a cake for the police officials, whose regular call of duty serendipitously helped him quit the deadly habit.
